Well, there just wasn't an open spot in the parking maze. All the way through and up to the roof was completely full. Only choice now is turning it around and heading back down.

The City Museum in St. Louis collects a lot of cool and wacky stuff and crams it all into a 600,000 square foot funhouse. A browse around the building and you'll very likely see a couple cranes, old bridges, a human-sized hamster wheel, 5- and 10-story slides, a room of preserved insects, a school bus and Ferris wheel on the roof, and at least one alien dressed like Elvis in a coffin. So it's no surprise they have a room with enormous double vault doors and salvaged safety deposit boxes adorning the walls. Don't lock yourself in.

Small things can have big impact. Simple objects can become important symbols. At the African American Museum In Philadelphia, these Round "whispering bells of freedom" are a sculptural monument honoring Crispus Attucks, who was at the center of a confrontation with British soldiers in Boston while protesting conditions under the crown. Attucks was one of five killed on March 5, 1770 in what came to be known as the Boston Masscare and has been immortalized as “the first to defy, the first to die” in the earliest days of the American Revolution.

This almost needs no explanation. It is what it is: a marble in the flower pot on the table out in the garden - a sphere inside a cylinder on top of a disk. How'd that marble get there, though?

The carnival is back in town, and it wouldn't be a carnival without a Ferris Wheel as the centerpiece. No, it is not named after Ferris Beuller. The Wheel is named for a real person with an even more interesting name -- George Washington Gale Ferris Jr. An American engineer, he created his signature Wheel for the 1893 Chicago World's Columbian Exposition.

This iconic tower was conceived and constructed for the 1962 World's Fair in Seattle. The Needle is 605 ft high with an observation deck and rotating restaurant at top. The "hovering disk" was a combination of three different architectural concepts proposed at the time, one of which was for a flying saucer.

The circular saw is a powerful Round with the teeth to prove it. With a rotary motion spinning around an arbor, it can rip it up, cross-cut, and buzz a variety of materials. Because the teeth are in constant motion, the sound of the circular saw earned it the nickname buzz-saw.
