C4004 Chip on 4004 CPU Board Round
This Round is revolutionary. In 1971, Intel created the first microprocessor – a single chip with the power of a computer. "This revolutionary accomplishment was actually a side project at Intel, done for a Japanese calculator maker. When that firm ran into money problems, Intel decided to sell the 4004 itself. Marketing the 4004 required a whole new way of thinking about computing. Computers had always been large, expensive machines located in specialized data centers. But the small, cheap 4004 could be used almost anywhere: one of the first uses was in traffic lights."
