Round Museum

It looks like you're on the receiving end of the swinging spheres on the "Newton's Cradle" device here at the Fleet. This is a demonstration of Sir Isaac Newton's First Law of physics -- the conservation of momentum and energy -- where bodies at rest or motion will remain that way as long as no forces act upon them. In this instance, the acting force is your 10-year old kid, and the clickety-clack sounds as the spheres strike each other will continue repeatedly until you forcefully say "STOP."

Sal's alien abduction experience goes something like this: It was a regular afternoon in the creek, ripples of water and algae floating by, when suddenly everything became eerily calm – the water had stopped. A shimmering Round object descended from above and lifted me from my home and took me to a strange place. Several large-headed bug-eyed creatures surrounded me, I couldn't understand what they were saying. They did tests on me, poked me with weird 5-pronged appendages. I know it sounds crazy, you probably don't believe me.

Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of Mexican-American culture in the U.S., but the spark of its importance occurred more than 150 years ago when the Mexican Army fought to an unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla. Out-gunned and outnumbered 3 to 1, the Mexican army under General Ignacio Zaragoza still managed to crush the French and boost national unity during the French occupation in the 1860s.
