The Point of the Lightning Bolt Round
At the foot of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge sits a 101-foot tall, 60-ton stainless steel sculpture welcoming travelers into Philadelphia. Designed by sculptor Isamu Noguchi, it represents a bolt of lighting, a kite, and a key in honor of the City's most famous inhabitant. Since its installation in 1984, there has been controversy about its aesthetic quality, and whether it looks like a lightning bolt at all. Its hard to tell from directly underneath, but you can see the point.
