When hiking the Schuylkill River Trail, a tire graveyard is the last thing you’d expect to see, and yet unfortunately there it is. This illegal dumping site isn't tucked away in an isolated area, but within yards of the trail behind a grassy knoll. And it's not unusual, as thousands and thousands of tires get dumped along the river every year.

That long walk in the woods can take you on many paths, and you'll want some kind of marker as a breadcrumb trail so you don't get lost. But leave no trace behind, and certainly no bottles. Leaning a stick against a tree, or positioning a fallen branch are ways to minimize your presence.
