The National Museum of Natural History opened in its current building in 1910 and stewards a collection of 148 million specimens and artifacts that tell the history of the planet and are a record of human interaction with the environment and one another. Beneath the Doric and Ionic columns, semi-circular clerestory windows, and Guastavino tiled ceiling of the central rotunda, Henry the 13-foot-tall, 11-ton African elephant raises his trunk toward the oculus. Is he waving 'hello!' or holding up the dome?

Founded in 1827, the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (B&O) had a dramatic economic, social, and cultural impact on our society. Its nearly 200-year history is deeply intertwined with the story of America and helped shaped our nation through invention, innovation, and ingenuity. Built in 1884 by architect Ephraim Francis Baldwin, the roundhouse building served as the B&O's Passenger Car Shop for repairs and maintenance. Occupying nearly an acre, this 22-sided structure is one of the most iconic structures in Baltimore.

There's a lawsuit in the International Courts brought by the Chinese claiming that they own the moon. The reactions to the suit were immediate -- the Russians said, "No, no, no! We were there first!" Luna 2, September 13, 1959. The Americans said, "NO WAY! We had the first guys there!" Apollo 11, July 20, 1969. And the Italians said, "We saw it first!" 1609 Galileo.
