While we wait on the server to bring our drinks, here's a thought experiment: How many rings does it take to build a wormhole machine? Three? Eight? Let's start with a small model hanging from the restaurant ceiling and test it out. Working with principles of general relativity, as the chandelier rings begin to rotate faster and faster to the speed of light, theoretically a rift in the fabric of spacetime will open up at the center of the sphere. So... could we cross that event horizon? Where would you want to travel? Maybe we could be back by the time appetizers are served.

Who’s been driving the old tractor? You’re a little off course, Dwayne, parked there in the lot by the high school. Steer it back to the west and get started plowing the back forty, will ya?

Scoop a few Round balls of your favorite ice cream and freeze them in the freezer. Then dip in a tempura batter of eggs and flour, and fry in hot oil for 15 to 30 seconds. Drizzle with fruit and chocolate sauce. Dust with powdered sugar. Eat. Repeat.

Is the Aspen tree watching? Is the Beech listening? Are the mighty Oaks talking about you behind your back? Like the sentient Fighting Trees in the Land of Oz, all of the above is true. Trees communicate with one another in a complicated web of relationships and alliances, through underground root systems and fungal networks sometimes thousands of years old. With this Wood-Wide Web they can send distress signals far down the mycorrhizal line to warn fellow groves of drought, disease, insect attacks and other dangers. So, be responsible out in the wood and watch your back.

A total solar eclipse is a relatively rare occurrence, with only eight visible in North America during the 21st century. On April 8, 2024, the "Great North American Eclipse" is happening, and people from all around the world have flocked to places along the totality's path. It will begin at 11:07 a.m. PDT at Mexico's Pacific coast and cross the US from Austin, TX to Dayton, OH to Buffalo, NY to Burlington, Vermont. More than 31 million people will be able to see the moon fully block out the sun for about four minutes and 28 seconds. If you don't catch this one, next one will be in 2044.

“Doorway to Imagination” is intended to create awe and wonder on the part of the children who pass through this doorway daily to school and for years to come. Not only are all of the flowers in the piece larger than any child, they tower above adults as well. As people walk by, I can only hope that they feel small like a child again; that the dwarfing quality of these larger-than-life flowers manages to transport them to a different place and time.

The "Wrapped Attention" solo exhibition is based in both fiber and waste transformation. My love of fiber and alternative materials has led me through many experimentations with traditional craft, pushing it further and further from its expected roots. I am process driven and delight in the unexpected discoveries that come from hours of dedicated practice. My current work focuses on the contrast between the man-made and natural worlds – where they collide and how they merge.
