Round Museum

In all deference to the rise of Pickleball and the popularity of Football, the nostalgic choice for America’s Pastime is still Baseball. What evolved from an old 18th century bat-and-ball game brought here by immigrants is played all round the nation by every age group at many different levels. In the Major Leagues we’re now at the end of a 162 game season, as teams battle for division titles, wildcard births and playoff positioning. Is your team still in the mix?

Less than a mile from the Maine border rises the rugged, round ridge of the Diamond Peaks, located within Second College Grant, a township with zero permanent residents owned entirely by Dartmouth College. The college has owned and managed the township since 1807, and it is used by students for outdoor excursions as well as by the college for research and income from timber harvests. The grant contains many exceptional natural features, of which the Diamond Peaks ridge is among the most noteworthy.

Created by Colorado artist Sadie Young, with collaborators from Spectra Art Space, 'The Tangled Self' uses yarn and fiber art to personify the inner monsters of the shadow self, or the unconscious parts of our personalities that we often hide from ourselves. Feelings like rage, grief, fear, and shame are made colorful, playful, and approachable, while small "pockets of positivity" – inspired by nature – symbolize the harder-to-find, yet integral, aspects of joy, worthiness, and acceptance.

These twins are now 23, born on the one year anniversary of 9/11. Like many, they share an important day, the sorrows of one tragic moment in time are mirrored by the joys of another. On this day, honor the lights of lives lost and keep hope in your heart for the perseverance alive in us all.

Back in the day when mom said, “eat all your broccoli” it probably didn’t look like this! Boiling tends to drain the green right out pretty quickly. But sautéed with garlic and olive oil in such a beautiful fashion, well… you cannot not eat it all!
