Out on the Asilomar State Beach in Pacific Grove on the Monterey Peninsula, California, a cluster of bright, neatly rounded golden flower heads emerges from a mat of succulent plants in the sand. Known as a Yellow Sand Verbena, it employs a special psycho-whammy defense mechanism against herbivores -- the psammophory method, whereby the plant attracts sand around its body so it would become a crunchy difficult mess if it is eaten.

This is a little game called "Every Person For Themselves," and this soccer ball right here is what you want. On the whistle... GO!

The moon sure seems kind of low tonight. Over by the Rail Park along 18th Street, you can see the Round hunk of cheese glowing through all of its phases projected right here on the side of a building. The happening is a public art collaborative called the Moon Viewing Platform that's part of "Site/Sound: Revealing the Rail Park," a partnership with Friends of the Rail Park and American Composers Forum (ACF), Philadelphia Chapter, presenting a series of soundscapes, programs, exhibitions and experiences activating locations along the quarter-mile park in downtown Philadelphia.

The fountain down in the harbor park is bubbling it's watery display. Around the pool several Round nozzles keep the water rippling in an ever-widening concentric flow.

Yesterday, there was a planter on the front porch with beautiful flowers. This morning, there is a shadow of dirt and chalky calcium Round where it once was. What's wrong with people? Planter stealing people, specifically?

Wouldn't you know it, our cracked windshield had barely been replaced with a new one when an errant stone shot from a passing truck on the highway, and BING!! -- a new starburst to brighten the day. With some resin, a syringe and a repair Round, we'll get this all fixed up.

A little Round rainbow on the road after a rain comes from light reflecting through a layer of oil. Everyone knows that oil and water don't mix. So obviously the immiscibility of the two liquids is due to a loss of entropy in the system. But there are a lot of science books that incorrectly state that the mixing process is endothermic when in fact it is exothermic, with the formation of solvent cages and the endergonicity of solvation due to entropy, not enthalpy! Well, duh!
