Round Museum

Art museums display collections of paintings, sculptures and installations that can be beautiful, inspiring, and very often serious. Humorous? Irreverent? You bet! In the lower level gallery at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, MD is a work that’s both artsy and fartsy! “Flatulence Post” presents an interactive assemblage of books, news clippings, historical stories, whimsical quotes, pictures, drawings and paintings as a mirror of fart humor throughout the ages.

The New York City Subway system is a massive mass transit network serving more than five million riders a day. It is also one of the oldest systems in the world, opening on October 27, 1904. Among its many charms are the colorful ceramic plaques and tile mosaics that decorate many of the 472 stations, identifying the name, number or location.

This artwork acts as a lens that colors and distorts our view of the Museum's lawn and the coastline of Lake Michigan. Impressively thick and slightly convex, "Two Discs" is a reminder that vision is changeable and our perception is easily altered.
