If you find a stone with a hole, it might be from human intervention with a drill, but if it's natural, you may be holding a magic rock. While the hole typically results from burrowing clams and long periods of water erosion, folklorists assign magical properties to water-born transformations -- only good things can pass through a Round. So, placing one above your front door will ward off evil spirits. Hanging one on your bedpost will prevent bad dreams. Attach one to your house keys, and you will never lose them. Magic!

Every manhole cover has a personality, and if you haven’t looked down at the Round when you’re walking the streets and sidewalks, then you’re missing something. In New York City, the covers on the Parks & Recreation system are quite intricate, with an open radial burst behind a maple leaf.

In a mash-up of high fashion and horticultural beauty, the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens' exhibition "Flowers Meet Fashion: Inspired by Billy Porter" puts the runway into the greenhouse with stunning affect. A native of Pittsburgh, Porter is an Emmy, Grammy, and two time Tony award winning singer, writer, and director. To create the exhibition, the Phipps collaborated with six professional fashion designers, costumers and students from Porter’s local alma maters, Carnegie Mellon University and Pittsburgh CAPA High School.

These drain pipe sections at the largest are about six feet in diameter, big enough to walk through; or, with the ladder, climb down. That's a lot of room for water, but I wouldn't want to be the guy to unclog it.

A leisurely 30-minute trip around the Millennium Wheel transforms tourists into ants, into dots, and then nearly erases them completely as the capsule rises 135 metres above the city. For a short time historic and modern architecture meld to portray London — seemingly in stasis — as it exists just in that moment. Unnoticed, the wheel shifts seamlessly from ascent to descent before gently delivering passengers back into the river of people flowing to or from.
