Here are only 25 of more than 1,400 blossoms of the Ozukuri, or the Thousand Bloom Chrysanthemum, all blooming from a single stem at Longwood Gardens. Ozukuri is a horticultural art and technique that originated several hundred years ago in China and Japan. At 12-feet in diameter, this plant is the largest of its kind outside of Asia. The process takes 18 months and involves nurturing a single stem cutting into an extremely large plant.

If you’re going to take potshots at signs you should know that it is illegal and depending on the sign, probably a federal offense. But who’s arresting those high-powered woodpeckers, packing beaks and causing all kinds of vandalism? And what are you doing anyway? Just making a racket? Drilling for insects? Hiding an acorn?
