Up high above the batting cages hangs this big paper mache baseball. In a place where hitting is the primary activity and a large variety of bats of all sizes is readily available, you would think this kind of piñata target would not survive very long. But you just wonder what might be inside that thing... roasted peanuts? Cracker Jack? Hot dogs?

Winter slowly turns to spring, the birds begin chirping, the buds start popping, a Collective Bargaining Agreement is finally settled and the lock out is over. That only means one thing. Baseball. Spring training is on the horizon and soon enough a two-seam fastball will cross the plate and the crack of the bat will break the afternoon air. Take me out to the ballgame!

OK, so what's the passcode, again? I've got to get in here. Agh! I can never remember it, there are too many required for everything now, and too many number combinations. Was it four digits? Well, there are 10,000 possible codes. Six digits? There are 1,000,000. We might be standing here awhile.

We spend a lot of time looking at things and talking about stuff, but what about the spaces between? In design, composing with "white space" is a critical part of the equation, too. The absence of "things and stuff" creates a Round from nothing at all.

With a bowling ball in your hand, every street becomes a lane and every gutter becomes, well, a gutter. It's trash pick-up day in Philadelphia, but one man's trash is another man's strike.

Stretched around a pocket of air, a triple-decker sandwich of soap and water molecules forms into a Round as it falls. No matter what shape in which a bubble starts, it will try to become a sphere. This is the shape with the least amount of surface tension between the fluid bubble membrane and the air it envelops.

It’s said that zinnias symbolize thoughts of absent loved ones. With a nest of Round petals in its center, the semidouble-flowered zinnia blooms with complex radial rows, like good friends who have gathered together after being apart for too long.

The head of a sunflower is a complex conglomeration of individual flowers called an inflorescence. From the outer yellow ray flowers to the dark brown center crowded with hundreds of small disk flowers, each with five petals fused into a cylindrical shape, the sunflower is a whole floral community all housed together in a Round.

Lillies of all types usually symbolize purity and rebirth, spiritually representing a connection to higher states of consciousness and faith. The calla lily was named after the Greek word for beautiful. The trumpet-like shape of the conical flower called a spathe brings a triumphant flourish to the garden.
