Every fan of Pixar's "Monsters Inc." knows Mike Wazowski has one eye. We know that because we can see it on his face and his body, and well.. everything. He is an eyeball with arms and legs and a cranky attitude.

Hang it in your dining room, or put it down on the corner on a roof with a winch and scaffolding. Invite your friends. When the countdown comes, welcome the New Year with cheer!

WREATH WEEK

The big wreath gracing the doorway of the Public Ledger Building brings holiday cheer to visitors. This historic building is nearly a century old and was once the home of the Public Ledger, Philadelphia's biggest daily newspaper for awhile and now home to the world's biggest Wawa.

The back of the wreath is not something you typically see, unless it has fallen off the door and on the ground. But here we go, a glass door installation complete with suction cup attachment, wire frame, and a view of the courtyard from the lobby.

How to know the change of the season? Well for me it is when the wreath appears on the door on the second floor landing at work. Reflective of the university’s wooded campus, the wreath is a reminder that school is in session with students creating a vibrant campus. It is also a reminder to be on notice, cooler days are ahead.

You work with what you have during the holidays. Look around, there are opportunities right out there in the back yard. Plenty of pine cones. Some rope. Ingenuity. Where there's a will, there's a wreath.

Well, here's a novel use for your wood chips. Some nails, wood glue and a little crafting time and you could have quite the sturdy adornment for your front door. Maybe add some twinkly lights? Pine cones? A few tiny woodpeckers?
