Like a crystal dandelion, this radial burst of disks floats like a celestial object against the wall. The dandelion has been said to symbolize the sun, moon and stars in the three stages of its development-- the flower as the sun, the puff ball as the moon, and the white fuzzy seed parachutes as the stars.

Your classic evergreen wreath will be much more festive if you add a few shiny red Christmas balls. And fuzzy snowballs, too? Pine cones sure would be a nice touch, as long as they're sprayed with fake snow. Don't forget a generous wrapping of snowflake patterned burlap. And red ribbon for contrast. Now... for the poinsettias... red? Or white? Oh, what the heck, how about both! Wait... where's the wreath?

WREATH WEEK

For an enterprising holiday activity, why not make your own wreath? Get yourself a wire wreath ring as a sturdy base to build around with some fresh spruce or pine branches. Twist and weave the branches into the ring. Attach some ribbons and bows, Christmas balls, maybe some lights. When you're done, cooking oil will be good for cleaning your sappy hands.
