The grass is green and the cone is down. Is this a problem? The cone is the fruit of gymnosperm plants, producing seeds. Different from seasonal cycles of leaves, flowers, or other types of fruit, a pine cone will grow and mature on a tree over a period of years and will typically fall to the ground during warm weather when it's better for seeds to germinate.
