Was just thinking back at all those times blowing out my thick, long, flowing locks to a silky sheen with a bristley Round brush. Ahhh, fond memories of a time and hair long gone.

Sculptor Harold Balazs invites the viewer to walk around and enjoy his playful copper sculpture "Walking Round Thing" from various perspectives. During the 1962 Seattle World's Fair at Seattle Center, his artwork was displayed across the fairgrounds -- a wooden relief installed at the entrance to the Forest Industries Theater; a large public sculpture entitled "Screwtape" in the First National Bank sculpture exhibit, and "Glyph No. 2" featured in the Northwest Art Today exhibit in the Fine Arts Pavilion.

The Seattle Field Artillery Armory, built in 1939, has stood the test of time, evolving over many years as a community gathering place and affordable family destination. Construction on this military reserve headquarters began in 1938. The buildings dedication ceremony provided a moment of great civic pride as thousands paraded through downtown Seattle. Over many years, the Armory has housed boat shows and big bands, infamous trials and the functions of military life.

A History of Fireworks” is a sparkling new exhibition that explores the origins of fireworks and the science behind them—from the way they are made, designed, and tested, to how they are sold and ultimately launched into the sky. And, of course, Round forms abound in this world. There are many to be discovered!

Minoru Yamasaki had a vision. He designed the United States Science Pavilion for the 1962 World's Fair. His approach to architecture prioritized peoples' experience of the building. He once said, "my premise is that delight and reflection are ingredients that must be added..." Yamasaki was Seattle born and raised. Born to Japanese immigrant parents, he attended both Garfield High School and the University of Washington. However, after experiencing years of anti-Japanese racism locally, he moved to New York in 1934.

Created by Seattle-based artist Dan Corson in a collaboration between Pacific Science Center and Seattle City Light, these sun loving blooms use regionally manufactured, custom solar panels to generate their own power, allowing them to glow throughout the evening. Each flower top contains 48 solar cells that produce 4.6 Wp (watts at peak production) for a total of 1,104 Wp for all five flowers. Sonic Bloom combines art and science to help educate about solar energy in the Pacific Northwest and inspire people to consider how they can incorporate renewable energy into their lives.
