Circulis Obwarzanek Krakowski Round
Twisted into a chewy crunchy braid, an obwarzanek krakowski is a ring-shaped bread particular to the Polish city of Kraków. Dating back to the 14th century, this crusty snack -- once known as circuli or "rings" -- was a favorite of King Vladislaus II Jagiełło and his consort, Queen Hedwig in their royal court. Akin to a bagel or bublik, the obwarzanek is boiled, baked, sprinkled with seeds or spices and sold from street carts in the city.
