Freedom Is A Light Round
Washington Square in Philadelphia is a beautiful urban park and a stirring memorial. During its long history it has served as a burial ground for victims of yellow fever epidemics, and as a cemetery for the city's African American community. Its central monument is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, memorial for the soldiers who died during the Revolutionary War serving under the command of George Washington. Established in 1954, the memorial honors the thousands that lie in unmarked graves within this square. The eternal flame was dedicated in 1976 by Continental Bank marking the celebration of America's Bicentennial.
