Lea Memorial Round
The mausoleums, monuments and sculptures of Laurel Hill Cemetery mark solemn burial places for the dead, but also provide a beautiful and artistic setting for the living. The Lea Memorial honors Philadelphia historian, author and publisher Henry Charles Lea. The bronze sculpture represents Clio, the Muse of History, and was created by Alexander Stirling Calder, son of Alexander Milne Calder who made the William Penn sculpture atop Philadelphia City Hall, and father of Alexander Calder, best known for his large kinetic mobile sculptures.
