Where Urban Legends Are Born Round
Dangerous creatures lurk beneath New York City streets. It shouldn't be surprising that a system with billions of gallons of water and sewage winding through 6,600 miles of pipe would be a spawning ground for a few snakes, snapping turtles, millions of rats, and perhaps the biggest of all urban legends – the giant sewer alligator. Could this be true? Maybe. If a wee hatchling pet was once flushed down the toilet she might survive to seek her revenge on Manhattan. After all, today is officially "Alligators in the Sewers Day."
