Goodbye Penny Round
Since 1793 the little copper-colored 1-cent coin has filled change purses, pint glasses, and counter tops all around the U.S. With the cost to produce one reaching four times its value, the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia produced the final batch of coins on November 12, 2025 — a 232 year run! There are some alternate uses for pennies after all. So, get the giant penny-filled pickle jar from your basement (use a hand-truck if necessary), and pour out 400 of them. Arrange in a Round shape on your glass top end table. Affix with glue. It makes a very nice artistic addition any living room. Only costs $4.00, or $16.00 adjusted for 2025.
