Desert Botanical Round
The Desert Botanical Gardens shows off a plethora of cacti, and with nearly 1800 known species in the world there are a lot of possibilities. Cacti show many adaptations to conserve water and live in extremely dry environments. They have thickened, fleshy parts adapted to store water. The spines, which are highly modified leaves, are the most recognizable feature of a cactus and also help prevent water loss by reducing air flow.
