The Lyndeborough Glass Company, founded in 1866, became one of the most productive glass factories in New Hampshire's history. The company was noted for producing a wide variety of forms and also for its broad range of colors including light aqua blue and nearly colorless wares. Among the most fascinating of the Lyndeborough products is the witch ball. This sphere, which was hung in a household window, was thought to distract malevolent spirits intent on disturbing the home's peace. When the spirit touched the ball, it was believed to be absorbed and trapped within the glass.
