Sunburst Ceiling Round
The coffered dome ceiling of the Harrison Auditorium at the Penn Museum is articulated by glazed tiles, wrought iron lighting fixtures, and centered with a bronze sunburst. The harmonious proportions of the all-masonry Rotunda are geometrically pure with both a 90-foot diameter and 90-foot height. Built between 1912 and 1915, the Auditorium was restored in 2017 and 2018. It is named for Charles Custis Harrison, Provost of the University of Pennsylvania from 1894–1910 and President of the Museum from 1911–1929.
