Hollerith Tabulating Machine Round
This tabulating machine was built by Herman Hollerith in the 1880s to improve the efficiency and accuracy of manually calculating data. The system worked with punch cards that would be fed into the machine. Hollerith's system allowed the official 1890 population count to be tallied in six months. In 1896, Hollerith founded the Tabulating Machine Company for the marketing and production of this tabulating system. His company eventually merged with another before being renamed International Business Machines Corporation, better known today as IBM.
