Walk Beneath The Round
The Conservatory at Longwood Gardens is Pierre du Pont’s vision for “a perpetual Eden” with over 4,600 types of plants and trees. Completed in 1921, the neo-classical building features indoor gardens surrounded by Palladian windows, bronze lanterns, and hanging baskets. In such a grand space, multi-height displays are designed to showcase plants in the round. Baskets are crafted by the Longwood metal shop with structural precision for load capacities of the plants, and can be raised and lowered for watering and care.
