Bartow Beacon-Runway Light Round
In the early days of powered light, landing was among the most dangerous aspects of flying. The Bartow Beacon addressed this safety issue as the first electrical airplane runway light. These light bulbs were fitted with an arrangement of lenses to produce multiple beams of light, ensuring the beacon was visible from all angles. Electric runway lighting is now standardized, with many different types of lights being used to communicate with pilots.
