The Art Of The Turntable Round
Music is art and art is music. Why not hang a turntable in the gallery? The earliest invention of a sound recording device wasn’t to create audio, but to create a drawing using audio. The phonautograph patented in 1857 by Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville transcribed sound waves into visual lines onto paper with a vibrating pen. DJ Martinville booming out the doodles!
