No. 13 Pioneer Round
Built by Seth Wilmarth of South Boston, Massachusetts in 1851, "Pioneer" is a single wheeled light passenger locomotive that typically hauled very short passenger trains of rarely more than three cars. During the Civil War it was used to haul crews to repair damaged track and facilities. In a raid into Pennsylvania by General J.E.B. Stuart, fire was set to the Cumberland Valley Railroad's depot, machine shops and roundhouse and the "Poineer" was damaged. In 1890, it was retired and placed in storage. It is the last surviving Wilmarth locomotive.
