Mercury Pavilion Round
The Mercury Pavilion is located at an overlook just above the Fairmount Water Works, the first water pumping station for the city of Philadelphia in 1815. The pavilion is named for William Rush's carving of the Roman god of commerce standing guard on top. In the 1820s paths and pavilions were constructed to allow visitors from the city to enjoy views of the Schuylkill River below.
