Around the world Mother’s Day is celebrated in various ways and with various flowers. In 1908 when Anna Jarvis started the day in America, she gave out white carnations which were her mother's favorite flowers. On the other side of the globe Australians celebrate the day with chrysanthemums, abundant flowers in May which also end conveniently in "mum".
