The intricate, lacy Nigella damascena is a lovely garden "romantic", producing blooms of white, blue, pink or purple. Growing up to two feet tall, the flowers are commonly called "Love in a mist" because their beauty is encased by a delicate, ruffly collar of small bracts that resemble a mist.
