Sculpted from volcanic stone and mounted on granite pedestals, the Indonesian fountain known as "Five Spouts, Frog and Lintel" at Spruce Street Harbor Park in Philadelphia features five mystic animals sitting guard over the waters. Starting from left, a tiger, ram, and an elephant are joined by two mythical creatures called makaras. Above them on the lintel is kala, a ferocious but protective creature that represents the cycle of rebirth of all living things. Somewhere in the pool a frog is watching it all.
