High Hopes Round
This tiny little ant. He's got high hopes. Looking down at his Round hill, you wonder what he's up to? Probably moving food into storage chambers. Or shuffling larvae up and down through tunnels. Depending on the species, this tiny little ant could deliver some pretty towering creations. There are anthills built to over 10 feet high. Some ant tunnels drill straight down 15 feet. And in Japan, they've found connected anthills with cooperating colonies stretching over 13 miles. But the billions of Argentine ants in Europe have the record. Their colony stretches from the Italian Riviera to the northwest corner of Spain -- over 3,600 miles. High hopes, indeed!
