Dobro Round
If you’re a fan of blues, folk, country, or bluegrass music then you’ve certainly heard the distinctive metallic tone of the Dobro guitar. Its unique Round metal resonator cone vibrates and pushes sound outward, creating louder and richer volume than the traditional soundhole of a regular acoustic guitar. The “ampliphonic” device was invented in the 1920s by Slovak immigrant, instrument repairman, and inventor John Dopyera and musician George Beauchamp. Dopyera started the Dobro Manufacturing Company with his two brothers in 1929. “Dobro” is a contraction of 'Dopyera brothers' and also a Slovak word meaning “good.” Their company motto was "Dobro means good in any language."
