Hickory Howitzer Round
The massive 210 MM German Howitzer sitting along Main Avenue in Hickory, North Carolina is an artifact of war, captured by U.S. forces during World War I in 1918. It has been dedicated to veterans of all wars by the American Legion Post 48. The multi-spoked two-wheeled carriage supports 14,500 lbs of heavy metal, with a barrel almost 9 feet long.
