Into the Tunnel Round
A trip on the Pennsylvania Turnpike through the Allegheny Mountains will take you through The Allegheny Mountain Tunnel, a 6,070 foot vehicular tube constructed way back in 1939. At first only one tunnel served both westbound and eastbound traffic, but in 1965 a second one was built. As they say, better to go through than over or around.
