The Round that started spinning in nightclubs in the early 1920s eventually became a glittering disco inferno of the 1970s. There was a mirror ball above every dance floor, producing complex, swirling displays of light from hundreds of reflective facets, and adding some flash to the boogie nights. But if you're going for flash, you might as well go big. Madonna's 2-ton glitter ball for her 2006 tour was covered in 2 million dollars worth of Swarovski crystals. U2 climbed in and out of their giant lemon disco ball during their 1997 PopMart shows. And for sheer size, Pink Floyd topped out with a 16-foot diameter planetoid that hung 70 feet above the crowd during "Comfortably Numb". But that's nothing. Guinness says a nearly 34-foot monster ball -- featured at the 2014 Bestival event in Isle of Wight, England -- is king, or queen, of the dance floor.
