Pennsylvania Capitol Dome Round
In downtown Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the State Capitol building is both the seat of government and a palace of art. A 272-foot dome is the centerpiece for many sculptures, murals, stained-glass windows, and 377 mosaics amongst 16,000 square feet of tile in the rotunda. It was designed in 1902 by Joseph Miller Huston in a Beaux-Arts style, and was inspired by Michelangelo's design for St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
